Catch-up Day

Since we had a successful bear viewing day yesterday, we decided to use today to wash the car, do laundry, pack and work on the blog.
Gary went to Stewart, B.C. to wash the car while I worked around the cabin, packed and tried uploading pictures at differenct locations... not going to happen in Hyder... :)

Later we took a little cruise around Hyder.  A young man about 16 yrs old came charging up behind us on a 4-wheeler.  He stayed behind us patiently following us from side to side as Gary was going slow and trying to miss the potholes full of muddy water.  When we turned on a side street, he went around us.  He was standing up on the 4-wheeler, like a lot of the kids ride,  only he had a handgun strapped to his belt.  We got a chuckle out of that.  We stopped for lunch at the Seafood Bus, hungry for Chowder.  We had forgotten she normally just makes it on Mondays and Fridays, but because Tuesday was such a rainy, cool day, she had made it and actually had a cup and a bowl leftover. Whew!! She said we could have that and divided it into 2 servings.   It really hit the spot.  Oh gosh, it was great! While we were there we told her about the kid on the 4-wheeler.  She laughed and said, "Oh, that was Isaac.  His Dad has been in foresty for years and he's getting started in it."  We surmised he packs the gun for bear protection.

On the way back to the cabin, Gary spotted a black bear down a side street.  We turned around to look for it, but it disappeared in a hurry and we never found it.  Bears are a nuisance around town.  People have electric fences around their property.

We showered late afternoon,  and packed the car.

This scene awaited us as we walked out the door to go to supper  GOD LOVES US!

The car was muddy again from driving around town so we went back into Stewart & Gary sprayed what he could off.  We stopped at the Glacier Inn for our last meal in Hyder - another good one!
We were in bed by 8:30 anticipating an early start, but woke up at 10:00 when people arrived at the cabin next to ours. They were considerate and were quiet. 
It was going to be a short night with a wake-up call at 2:30 a.m.
